In March my wife and I (both retired) relocated from Delaware to Central NY. We bought a 3-year-old home and 22 acres. About 4 acres are lawn and the rest tall grass and brush. The former owner wanted us to buy his Kubota and all attachments, but I said, "No, thanks." I didn't know what we needed and I wanted some time to think. Moreover, I like John Deere and have had good luck with my JD lawn tractor.

In any event, I spent a lot of time reading on this site and it helped me figure out what tractor I needed/wanted to tackle some of our work. Thanks to everyone here for all of your help.

I bought a new 3520 on June 5 from my local dealer. Here are some of the details:

eHydro
Mid PTO
block heater
iMatch
forward lighting
R4s
Warning light brush guard kit
Rear wheel weights
300CX loader
ballast box
61 in heavy duty bucket
Replaceable bucket cutting edge
LX5
slip clutch
puncture proof tire
(I know I have forgotten a couple of small items, but this is close)

3520 was $19573.86
300CX was $3866.49
LX5 was $1405.65
Sales tax $1987.68
Total price with tax $26,833.68

I've used the bucket to move a lot of topsoil and mulch; it's been great. The rotary cutter has also done the job I needed on the tall grass.

I'm going to need a snowblower and left that item off the list for now. I could use some advice: front? rear? I have about 250 yards of paved driveway; all on a gradual slope to the house.

Thanks.

I figured if you've seen one, you've seen them all. So I haven't taken any photos. I guess I'll need to think about that. Thanks.

Just curious Vic, as I am also in the market for a new tractor. Which tractors, other than the sellers Kubota, did you compare your 3520 to, if any. Was the decision for the 3520 based on your experience with the local JD dealer or............?

Looking forward to your reply,

Dennis

Dennis,

I am surrounded by Kubota owners here so I looked at a lot of them and I just couldn't get excited about them for some reason. I had no experience with the local JD dealer since I just moved to NY at the end of March. My previous experience with JD was with lawn tractors and all of that experience was good. I really wanted a Deere so I tried to gather sufficient information to determine which Deere I needed for the work I have to do. I have 22 acres of land with a lot of tall grass to cut, considerable snow to blow and quite a bit of landscaping to do. I soon determined that the 3000 and 4000 twenty series had everything I would ever need. And I had to get an eHydro so my wife could drive it. I then narrowed my search down to the 3000 series since I didn't need a machine as powerful as the 4000 series. I chose the 3520 since it had all the power I needed and the price was within my target range. I doubt that helped you very much.

I have a very similar setup to yours with a cab. I purchased a front blower because I have a long drive and my neck gets stiff backing up all the time. I have a back blade so it is a frairly efficent setup.

Good luck with the new toy and enjoy!
