I'm in the market for a 40 or less gallon sprayer for my tractor. Other than being able to navigate confined areas with ease, are there any other advantages to the boomless style sprayer? Are the spray patterns produced on the boomless more or less accurate than the boomed version?

I think the boom sprayer would get a better, more uniform spray pattern. I have had good results with boomless, also, but only if I can select my spray episodes carefully. If you're dealing with wind, the boomless will usually spray YOU as much or more than your target.:2cents:

I love my boom sprayer. Never worry about drift which is important when spraying next to neighbors property.

Boom sprayer has a more controlled pattern because the nozzles are pointed straight down and it produces a fine mist. Boomless is good for driving around objects. To throw the water, the boomless has a larger droplet size which equals less precise coverage. I have a boomless sprayer for my atv. If I was spraying a golf course I'd get one with a boom. Depends on what you are using it for.

I just put a Northern Tool 26 gal boom less unit on my tractor to spray weed killer. Used it yesterday with I hope good success. It also has a wand for spot spraying or where the boom less nozzles are too broad. Sprays about a 40' swath. Seemed to work for my needs.

I have a 25 gallon boomless along with a wand that I tow behind my TC40DA.. The nozzle is low so it throws about a 15' wide pattern so there is not a lot of drift. Wand works good for spot spraying weed killer along the fence. When I buy a larger unit for spraying field I will probably get a 250 gallon with a boom to limit drift. What I have seen with the boomless is you lose consistency of pattern when you raise it up high and crank up the pressure to get a 40' wide pattern. Any wind at all plays havoc with the pattern.

What are good brands in the 25 gallon range?

I have the Northstar 5.5gpm tree sprayer. I then converted the wand by putting a garden hose fitting on the end. Now I can change out attachments from a hand sprayer to a boomless to the tree sprayer. Currently I'm using it with no attachment to water my trees. With a single boomless nozzle it's able to produce 40psi running continuously. Definitely wouldn't go any smaller on the pump.

I cant recall who made the last boomless sprayer I used but it didnt spray a fine mist nor did it project it outward. It sparayed in a fan pattern outward(to the sides) and downward right behind the sprayer. Sprayed a 25 or 35 swath. But it sprayed more like big drops. No worry of drift so to speak. It worked awsome. I used it to spray a 5 acre food plot that hadn't been planted in about 4 years and some of the stuff was 6' to 7' high. It was up eye level in the cab. Two weeks later it was all dead. No missed spots. I worried it wouldnt get behind in place or get blocked by other thick spots but it didnt. A few weeks later made about a 20 foot area around the outside with a disc and throwed a match to it. Made one beutiful plot that year.

Fimco has the booms that spray 140" or boomless that supposedly throws 30' wide. I don't see how it can throw a precise consistent pattern 30' wide.
