Boom Pole or FFL?

I think they like to lift the front end of the log so it skids/ slides rather than digging in as you drag it. (haven't tried it myself)

Exactly! Keeps the butt from digging in and keeps the grit off the log. When I did this I also ran a chain from the drawbar to the log so the boom pole was lifting, but not pulling ....

The boom pole is an inexpensive option when none of the loaders are available.

Another nice idea for the attachmnet to the front. I used my boom-pole a lot before I bought an fel.. It paid for itself quickly and saved by back many times.It can pull the front wheels off the ground if not careful..
