Real nice set up Dapper. Are those solar powered lights, the tall street light looking ones?

Forgeblast,
Thanks. Just some of what the hard work is for!:D
No the lights are not solar. The ones in these pictures are all working, and wired back to the barn. They are on photocells, and low (15 watt) bulbs for a nice Glow. I have collected many over the years and only a few are actually in use.

They look real good, i have been looking at them lately. I put in some conduit when i was digging up the front yard so that if i ever want one at the end of our driveway i can just pull the wire through. We are finally melting, mud everwhere but i cant wait to get outside, i just recieved an order of plants too. i think im going to plan some bush cherrys as a hedge along the driveway.
later all

Skerby:

Bamboo once established is nasty stuff. It will spread and is hard to get rid of . Jay

Bamboo can crack concrete and escape, be very carefull with it.
We have all of the "Japanese Knot Weed" looks like bamboo but is very brittle in the winter. thats very difficult to kill too. those rhizomes just keep spreading it. I started spraying last year trying to knock it out. Ill know in a couple of weeks how i did.

Take a look at this book
"Landscape for Wildlife in the Pacific Northwest"
Amazon.com: Landscaping for Wildlife in the Pacific Northwest: Books: Russell Link

It is oriented to the PNW, but does seem more oriented towards "large area landscaping" than most books out there. It discusses developing "zones" for various areas, and has a nice bend towards making a landscape attractive to wildlife (e.g. birds/bats can be great for "pest control", etc).

Try a trip to the local library, you may find a similar book more in tune to your geography ...
