A short while ago I bought a 1995 Kubota B7100. The Rops bar was not attached but I have the original Rops bar. Trouble is I don't have the bolts. Can someone possibly tell me what size bolts to buy to screw in to mount the ROPS bar? I called the kubota dealer and they were no help....

Thanks!!

Funny, I just removed one of mine to check this out. On my B-7800, they appear to be 9/16 fine thread, Grade 8.
I'll be able to provide a definitive answer tomorrow.

Fairly good chance that they are metric.

If you go here tractorsmart you can fill out a form to get a pdf of the parts manual.

My L2500 parts manual doesn't have the bolt sizes with the part description so that may not help. If Black ntan is close then it sounds like his may be 14mm bolt. After the size comes the thread pitch. My guess is they would be metric to so you are looking for a pitch like 1.00mm, 1.25mm, 1.50mm, etc. Smaller number the finer the thread. on something like a 14mm shank bolt you are probably looking at a 1.25 or 1.50.

Good Luck,
Rob

My bolt measures .555 across the crest of the threads. I don't have a pitch gauge at home here, it's in my toolbox at the shop. However, the 6 hash marks on the head, and the close proximity to 9/16 (.562), lead me to believe the bolt is not metric. If I saw a grade stamping of 8.8 or 10.9, I might think differently.
But, once I get to the shop, I will know about my bolt for sure. Yours could well be different.........

.555 converts to 14mm. If it's American you can count the TPI. I'm still betting it's metric. Everything else on my Jap tractor is. :D I'm taking the house odds on this one.

I unscrewed (it took forever) my stock bolt out of each side and bought another one the same size, and ground off the threads so that it would just push into the threaded nut I then drilled a hole in the end that goes through the nut, put a washer then a hairpin keeper through the hole. This turns a half hour job into a two minute job of folding the ROPS over, since I used the same size grade 8 bolt no lessening of strength in an accident.
The other bolts on the ROPS function as a friction brake to prevent the heavy bar from rolling down out of control when you take the aforementioned keeper bolts out.

Mine are a definite 9/16-18 Grade 8.

You'd think they'd stick to one standard:rolleyes: . Bolts on my NH tractor are metric, bolts on the attachments (MMM & Loader) are SAE. Bolts attaching attachments to the tractor are metric (I think?).

I'm perfectly capable of being wrong myself Rob!

Just was lucky this time. When I put the Metric pitch gauge on the bolt, 1.4 was real close, but I knew that couldn't be right. The AS 18 was perfect!
Running a 9/16-18 tap through the nut with a close fit and no resistance sealed the deal!

I thought it SHOULD have been Metric myself!

14mm was too big. 12 mm 1.5 fine thread is close, but it doesn't line up on the threads.... What else to try?

Never did find the right bolt for this. Anyone with a B7100 want to take a bolt out of the rops bar where it mounts to the tractor and tell me what size it is? Pretty please :D :D :D

I know this is an extremely old topic, but was in the same predicament with a 96 kubota b7100 hst. So for historical reference to anyone in the future.
