Anyone have any luck mounting bolt on hooks on top edge of their bucket, the flat only looks to be just over 2", I guess weld on would fit alittle better and not hang off as much,
I didn't use the hooks on the top of the bucket. Instead I welded a 1/4" x 3" x 3" angle on top of the bucket that I had cut slots into so a 3/8" chain will just slip into the slot. On a 6-1/2 ft bucket I think there are 5 slots so I can put the chain where I need it. This does 2 things, it gives you more places to attach a chain and it strengthens the top of the bucket.
I installed Ken's bolt on hooks and clevis mounts on my Max 26xl bucket. They do slightly stick out over the radius of bucket top but very little. The only issue I ran in to was I had to install 2 of their 2" x 1/4" spacer plates on the under side to allow the clevis mount to fit properly inside the bucket. I haven't used them yet so I can't attest to their durability, but I think they will be fine for anything I'm going to use them for.
