Bobcat backhoe attachment

I have a chance to get a backhoe attachment for $1500. My internet analysis has shown operators are not very happy with these attachments. Best I could figure the hyd are "jerky". Is this true? Can it be fixed with a well placed flow control? Should I just pass on the opportunity? I have noticed a lot of these for sale but never see them being used. Are they just a white albatross? Help!

I've used an older hoe on an older 20hp gas skid steer to trench a barn waterline. It was probably a generation older than the one you're looking at. It didn't have the power of a real hoe, but it sure beat a shovel.
