bobcat 825 planetary unit

just bought a 1977ish bobcat 825 skid steer, mechanic states it needs a planetary unit, right side, but having trouble finding one at a reasonable price. any suggestions

It wont be cheap, for some reason there is not alot of skid steers junked out. If your able to find what you need used it will certainly be cheaper than new but your gonna hafta ante up in most cases. I had to replace both gear reduction units on an early 80's 843 a couple years ago IIRC $600 per side, used parts then had to reseal them before I used them.

thanks, So far I ve found one for $950 used, still looking, i was hoping to find one in $600 range, I purchased the 825 for $3500 which owner thought it just needed axle seal replaced, if I can get repaired for $1500 I think I ll have a good machine to clean up around my property.

Are you sure it just doesn't need bearings and seals? Do you have it out? Make sure it's not simple before you start throwing $$$ at it.
