Is it unwise to switch these controls given they are connected to different size lines?

I have an old bobcat 116 (komatsu pc40-6 is same machine) from 1988 and I'd like to switch the boom and stick controls. They routed the large hoses for the stick cyl and the smaller hoses for the boom cyl through small hard lines around the boom swivel. What is the reason for designing large hoses for stick and small hoses for boom and why not also design large hard lines for corresponding large hoses instead of using small lines which seem like a bottleneck to me.

I could switch the hoses after the hardlines, or right after the control valves, but I would guess the control valves have a different flow rate since they have different output sizes. Can these valves be adjusted to compensate given their output ports are different?

Comments?
Thanks

If you wish to schnge the controls from American (SAE comonally refered to Jd) to ISO (caterpillar controls) you need to hange the hose connections from the joysticks to the control valve, not from the control valve to the cylinders.

Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that's possible. It's a 1988 model with control sticks directly mechanically operating the valves hydraulics. I see no way to change which stick moves which valves.
