I watched this as it was happening. It makes one proud to know that our society will respond enmasse to help those in desparate need.
It looked to me like every available water craft of all sort responded. Yes, WOW!

Hats off to the US Coast Guard when they relaxed/ignored passenger loading/licensing rules to get the maximum number of people on a boat for evacuation.

That is but one of many outstanding things that was either done on the day of 9/11 or done in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. Another one the American people do not seem to know about is the Monument the Russians gave to the US in remembrance of 9/11. snopes.com: Tear Drop 9/11 Monument

A lot of Americans either don't remember or know about a lot that done by Americans or was given or done in remembrance of 9/11 by foreign countries or governments. The case of the Russian monument is sad; a former President had to accept for the American people.

The monument stands alone, politics aside I should think. Ex Presidents regularly perform such functions.
