Blower chute rotator

I have one from harbor freight that is similar and it powers both in and out. If I disengage the knob then it free spools.

Thanks for the info. It sure will make life a little easier if I don't have to add the step of wiring in a DPDT switch and just using the remote control. But who knows? Maybe I'll find that a more permanently mounted switch will be easier once I've tried the thing out a few times.
Just awaiting the winch and a new welding helmet to get here so that I can begin. I picked up some various sizes of steel last night to fabricate a winch mount.

So do you think that if the freewheel knob is left engaged, the drum will spool both inward and outward with the remote? Probably the freewheeling is to speed up getting the cable out when hooking onto an object.
If not, I'll take PILOON's advice and get the spring loaded DPDT switch, which I believe they call a momentary switch.
Maybe instead of being impatient and putting the cart ahead of the horse, I'll just wait until the winch gets here and find out what the thing does or does not do.

I think that you will find the remote switch that comes with the winch will work fine for forward and reverse operations. If it is like the switch I have it will work just fine. With the unit I used I found that the housing that holds the switch had extra holes that could be used to secure the switch to the handle bar of the 4-wheeler. So all I had to do was remove the handle bar pieces and install the switch housing using the holes. Worked slick.

By the way where are you located up in the north country? I grew up in a small town up there (Chateaugay) and we have a summer place near South Colton.

Thanks Wayne. This particular remote control looks more like a key fob in the manual. I'll wait & see what I have when the winch gets here before I decide on a DPDT.
I'm quite a bit south of Chateaugay, more in the area northwest of Watertown, near Lake Ontario.

Okay you get the snow and Chateaugay gets the cold.......fair amount of snow, but nothing like Watertown area! The switch I have on the chute angle is a momentary DPDT with center off. Works fine for what I am using it for. For the chute rotate I have the switch that came with an earlier winch I bought off from Ebay (cheap Chinese model) and it burnt out the first year but the control switches work fine.

The black box above the yellow is the switch that I am using for the chute tilt.

We actually don't get much being right next to the lake. The winds pick up the moisture off the lake and then dump it further inland. I'm probably about 25/30 minutes from the Tug Hill area. They really get the snow!
Everything in the UPS waiting stage now. As soon as the winch gets here from Harbor Freight and a new welding helmet from Northern Tool, I'm ready to start.
I've got the steel, but it's a pain to weld with only the little hand held shield that came with my welder. I've ordered a self darkening helmet so that both hands are free to work.
I also would rather wait for the winch so as to get my measurements first hand instead of off any online specs.
