Rest in Peace
Egon, I believe it was around New Years 1980-81 when we had quite an ice storm in Dallas. At that time we heated and cooked with natural gas and even had a gas starter in the fireplace. When I noticed the temperature dropping in the house, even though the blower was moving air, I found the furnace was lit, but just a tiny flame. I checked and found the same thing at the cookstove, then called the gas company. The person I spoke to said maybe the regulator at the meter was frozen, to pour warm water on it. I did but that didn't help. However, before I could call again, a gas company employee showed up and said the pressure was down in the whole neighborhood and they were increasing it. Right away, ours came back to normal.
