Snow Blew Out Curtis Cab Windshield Yesterday

Here's the damage. $685 for the windshield, approx. $150 for shipping. They have two in stock at Curtis in MA. Should be here Wednesday. We do have insurance on the tractor and my wife is checking to see if it covers this accident.

My $700 guess was pretty close.

Glad to hear you could get one quickly!

Is it something you can put in or will someone with glass installation experience/equipment be needed?

State Farm covered my first windshield but since I didn’t select glass option, it fell under my $1,000 deductible. Installed myself, quoted at $750 by their auto glass specialist so they gave me $750 credit and I had to pay $250. Next time it was a door on a different tractor. Remember to close them before reversing. This time I had added glass coverage so it cost my $100 glass deductible. I didn’t question my own installation because of simple bolt on. Windshield was glued and after watching several people replace auto windshields, I felt it would be no problem. I did get 3 relatives due to weight of the glass but after installation was no visible difference with factory.

I've looked at my Curtis Cab windshield and decided if I ever break it I would make a flat frame out of angle iron and mount it to the existing curved frame either by welding or screws. Then I would see my local glass guy and get automotive glass cut and install it. Probably wouldn't cost more than 150.$

Never heard of them. Is it a local company?

Nah, they aren't 'local' as a Mom & Pop type local, they're in 25+ states. They just do not spend money on TV/Radio commercials. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen/heard one. Seen countless billboards though around here.

They are what I have for my Home & Auto here in Central IN as well. Great company to deal with and by far the BEST rates for superior coverage compared to what State Farm, All State, etc quoted. However, my agent on the other hand, he is rather ****. But when it comes to insurance, I'm ok with it. At least I can sleep easy knowing there aren't any 'what ifs' to worry about.

Sorry you had accident, glad you're ok and the fix is in process. My wife and I both agree that a tractor cab would be nice, but the budget did not support it... and with thoughts about retiring, doubt that future budget will either.

You did not get hurt...main thing.

Good lesson though. BTW, I am a new tractor guy and the locals were giving me hard time whenever I buckled up. I stopped doing it but will go back to using the seat belt.

Not judging. In 60 years of operating a tractor I have never fastened a seat belt while operating one.

My Dad and I installed the cab (he was over 80 at the time) and we had to install the windshield. I’ll get a helper and install it again. Just installed my heater by myself and it works great!

Just curious if anyone checks the price of glass replacement before deciding on an OEM or aftermarket cab.
