Blew a hose, should I replace them all?

How hard are the hoses to replace? If the location, fittings or routing is tough, it might be easier to go ahead and do them all at once. Otherwise, if it is a random failure I would just do the one.

At work, we blew the engine in a forklift. While the engine was out the mechanics wanted to replace the hydraulic hoses. They looked bad and with the engine out it would have been a piece of cake. Naturally, they were denied and the hoses blew less than a month after putting the engine back in.

Can you live without your tractor for a week or two? Ordering hoses on-line is a lot cheaper than having them made local. Often the local guy doesn't have the exact fitting and has to find a way to get around it or wait for parts from the warehouse. I have hoses that are more than 30 years old and never spent a day inside that still work just fine and others that blew. IMO there's no rhyme or reason why some hoses last longer than others.

Well - 38+ years and never had to replace a hydraulic hose - knock on wood. I can see those that might be most likely to "blow". But one never knows. Fortunately - there is a business in Spokane, House of Hose. They can make anything needed - while you wait. They made up the necessary hoses for my Land Pride grapple.

At least they saved money on the engine pull  . (Pay me now or pay me later....)

I don’t see any wear, just a random failure. I think I’ll just replace the bad one now and see where it goes. Thanks for the advice!
