So this morning I replaced the fuel filter on my John Deere 2355. Clipped in the new filter, loosened bleed screw, manually pumped the lever at the fuel filter until the air was mostly gone (couldn't quite get the bubble at the very top center since the bleed screw is on the right side). Tightened bleed screw back up, started tractor and ran it for about 20 minutes, it bobbled a few times with what I assumed were inconsequential air bubbles that would run themselves out but otherwise ran fine. Shut off tractor, patted myself on the back for successful tractor maintenance and went about my day. This afternoon I go to start the tractor to move some hay bales and it cranks strong but doesn't start. No smoke out of the stack. I rebleed at the fuel filter several times but no dice. (I also added some diesel before trying to start it but the tank was over 1/4 full so I wouldn't think that would affect anything) I assume there is air in there that I didn't get out?? Is my next step to bleed it at the injectors? I haven't done that before so any tips appreciated.

Engine operating for 20 minutes after changing fuel filter should not have an air in fuel problem. I suggest to check for good flow from tank to inj pump? I also suggest that you check to be sure fuel tank is venting. Another possibility is check ball in fitting(item 2) on inj pump that fuel return line attaches to is clogged. With bleeder screw loosened try to start engine & if engine operates check valve(item 2) for clog.

Thanks for the response! I managed to get my local mechanic out today and of course, he solved the problem in about a minute. Opened the bleed screw and pumped the fuel lever while I cranked the engine and it started after about 20 seconds of cranking.
