Any suggestions for what is causing loss of power and black smoke when mowing grass on a bx2200. We are not talking high grass. The grass is probably 4 inches tall and dry and I am cutting at about 3 inches. Any suggestions at what to look at would be appreciated. (Air/fuel Filters have been changed.)

Cruddy fuel?, Something living in the gas tank (algae), Something living in the air tube to the air filter?,Brake stuck on?, injector hosed up? That is a few things to check.

Black smoke usually indicates too much fuel or not enough air. Have you checked you air filter?

Or...check the mower for binding...black smoke can also indicate the engine's working hard.

My bet is the air filter, or some sort of obstruction to the air intake.
