I have an EMax 25 with 200 hours on it, and I’m pretty sure this is new, although there is a slight chance I just never noticed it. But right in front of the exhaust the bolts for the front brush guard, and the silver lever to lean the brush guard forward, are completely black. It’s right in front of the exhaust, and I just did an oil change a week ago and I don’t believe it was there then.

I haven’t noticed black smoke while using the tractor, just a little wind starting it. Is there something I should look at? What would cause this all of a sudden?

I have the same thing on mine, it is pretty normal they blow black smoke on start up.

Yep start up and lugging. These newer diesels like to be set up towards the PTO RPMs for about everything.

I didn稚 think anything was wrong, just thought it strange that I never saw it until now. 200 hours in two years after getting it. But thanks for the help

In an ancient thread on TBN, this subject came up. One answer for removal of soot, WD40.
