Bizarre log splitter idea

Why would you put 1/4 in hose to a 4 in cyl?

I just happen to notice last night that there's 1/4" hose on the curl cylinders so it stuck in my mind. I'm sure it's larger coming off the controls.

just checked and it's 3/8 at the quick connect
