I finally stepped up to a real tractor after using a Cub/Yanmar through the winter for snow removal and hauling firewood off of my wood lot. I purchased a Kubota MX5100 with R-4's and FEL, I also upgraded my snowblower to a 74".

Congrats on your new purchase. Did you keep the Yanmar ? Still might come in handy to keep the smaller tractor around...

It think you're going to like the MX, flatlander. I like my MX5000 much more than I thought I would. It's turned out to be just the right size for what I do. Plus, the range shift reverse never gives me a fight about getting into gear when doing loader work.

Bigger and heavier has its appeal; but not when you tow on a rather confined pipe trailer. The MX is big and stout enough to handle serious work easily without giving either the tow rig or the bank account a hernia.

Congratulations and keep us updated. I'm particularly interested in how that turbocharged engine does on fuel. My non-turbo MX burns 5 gallons for every 4 hours on the tach. 1.25gph isn't bad for all that thing does.

So far so good with the MX, I wound up trading in my Cub for it. I am waiting for mud season to conclude so that I can start to use it, and I will let you know about the fuel consumption.
