I think some of you guys who say they would like more children might want to check with your wives. We had three, which was one more than we "planned", but DW worked in a hospital and passed the nursery daily. No plan was made, but she says the daily exposure to newborns kicked in her fertility. More than three? No way according to the missus. Apparently most women don't find the experience of child bearing and birth nearly as much fun as the prelude.

Chuck

Beleive me, I had to check with the wife. We all have to check with the wife.

I don't think it has anything to do with "today's generation". That's a pretty broad brush stroke.

Moss ... I don't know about that. My Grand parents had 8 and raised them thru the depression. No assistance ... my wifes parents had 15 kids... the oldest born in 1935 and again no assistance.

These are only 2 examples and I am pretty sure if assistance would have been available (I don't know if it was) they would not have even consider it.

Again "todays generation" it seems as a way of life for many. Kinda as a source of revenue.

China and India are the big population boomers but by the middle of this century they will peak and then their population will decline.

Because China and India want boy babies and not girl babies they now have far more boys than girls. This will effect the birth rate and likely cause other problems as well.

Aborting female fetuses is a tremendously effective birth control strategy. Men do not have babies; women do. Every time they abort a female fetus, they also abort all of her descendants. Fewer women means a lower birth rate.

Socially, there will be a tremendous urge to make both boys and families succeed in order to attract a suitable female. Many men will have no chance of ever finding a mate. Since success often comes later in life, many men will marry substantially younger women, which is hard wired into the human race anyway. The rest will have to be content with prostitutes and homosexuality.

I suspect they will travel around the world to find wives. They may come to The USA and marry the girls that we adopted from China.

I read an interesting article on the future of the earth's population. It mentioned that in a couple of centuries the earth's population will start declining. The rest of the developing world will reflect what is currently happening in Europe, Russia and North America. The birth rates will not support population increases. It mentioned that the new technologies in agriculture will support the world's masses. The major fear mentioned in the article is economical. The future population will be 2/3 elderly with only 1/3 of the younger generations supporting it.

He sez "...you want QUICK do ya?...", dug down in his bag and showed me an instrument known as a "Burdizzo Clamp"....

Although I agree in most of this, back in them days most families were a part of agriculture in some form or another. A lot of families now days in bigger city areas have to go to a zoo to see a cow.

In India woman still has to bring dowry but in China the process already reversed. Girls are picky and their parents want money from the suitors.

It doesn't really matter that much, because most jobs have been automated out of existence anyway. All we need to do is put the burden on the machines, which will upset the machine owners, but they are the ones who took the jobs.

When 1/3 is supporting 2/3 I expect only 1/3 of all people will be upset.:D

There are many theories on why we have crime/violent crime. The best theory that I can see is that crime rates follow the age group that commits crimes.
I'll take a shot at it too. How many young children (say 2-8 yrs. old) have ever needed someone to teach them to do bad things? Seems it comes quite naturally to them, it's to do good that has to be taught to them (imho).

I dont think it is just the Islamic religions that pushe more kids. I remembering seeing and hearing the pope when I was in Mexico many years ago, he was extoling the evils of birth control! And there is that other form of Mormans that push to have many children. We have a large contingent of the Unification Church in the town of Kodiak and Rev. Moon also pushes for large families so maybe instead of mandated birth control maybe it is time to limit churches:laughing:
