Birds in the Barn

last year i had a bird build and populate her nest next to the batt in my 1140, frank the tank. it sat for 10 days while they hatched. Didn't really move the rtv for 2 weeks!

It was fun to watch but not this year! If they build a nest fine but, they better understand, it's going to be a mobile home!

I do not know if the plastic owls work in a barn but they do work on swing set. My parents had a porch swing on an old swing set under the shade trees. The birds would set in the swing and poo on the swing. Dad mounted a plastic owl on top of the swing and no more sitting in bird poo.

I love watching birds. I have houses and feeders all around for them.

I have one house I hang on the front porch right in front of the living room window. We have a family of small birds hatch out of it a couple times a year. For some reason they don't mess up the porch.

I just draw the line at letting them crap all over my stuff. They got into my shed a couple years back and made a mess.

Neighbor hung clear plastic below the rafters so the equipment stays clean.

I'm building now and having a hard time getting materials. I special ordered pre painted hardi plank and it took forever.

I ordered hardi soffit and Lowes can't give me a straight answer re delivery!

My soffits are wide open and i see birds flying in and out. This could be a problem!

I put on a garage addition last summer/fall and it got cold before I could put up the north side soffit material. Vinyl would have snapped cutting it or hit it with a hammer. It's been getting warm the last few days and I've noticed birds starting to investigate holes and such. So I put up the soffit yesterday before they get any ideas. Have to close the ends in tonight. Spring has sprung.

I'm probably going to have to put hardware cloth or something in the soffit.

One little bird had a whole 5 foot section full of nest building material. Flew right around the new owl.

Plastic owls and electronic bird repellers don't work. At my old job, we had several plastic owls and a couple electronic bird repellers. All were covered with pigeon poop.
