There has been some discussion about biodiesel and I thought some may find this web site interesting.

Is anyone here actually running biodiesel in their tractor? I've been running it in a late model VW and an early 90's GM 6.5 truck. Our Kubota L4630 didn't like it too much when I blended some in a couple of years ago. Might have been a bad batch.

Other experiences?

There was a station in Jeff city selling Bio and I got a 5 gal can of it last year when I was up there. My Yanmar ran just fine on it. Didn't notice any difference.

I recently purchased a Branson 3510 and it came with a full tank. I decided to use B100 (100% biodiesel) and have been replacing the regular diesel as it it consumed. I'd say the mix is most likely 40% biodiesel right now.

So far, it is running flawlessly.

At the last Benz club meeting, one of the guys there said he tried it. It caused some of the rubber seals to break down. You should check with your dealer/manufacturer whether the parts can take biodiesel. I'd like to try it. There's a place supposedly that has some over the hill (Shenandoah Valley) from us.

Another guy told about his daughter collecting cooking oil in various containers and taking it out to her apartment parking lot and pouring the stuff in her Benz diesel. A guy was watching incredulously as she poured the stuff in, started the car and drove it away.

We run a biodiesel blend in our trucks and tractors. We go through about about 3000 gallons a month and never had a problem.

cowboydoc-

When you say "biodiesel blend", what specifically are you talking about? 10%? 20%? My wife and I are extrememly interested in using biodiesel as we will soon have a Ford diesel van and tractor. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. We do have a biodiesel distributor right on our island that my friend recommends.
Thanks,
Bonehead
