Bio-Diesel

Have any of you guys tried these things out? The one I am looking at states the cost of 0.46 per gallon. No engine conversion or anything. Less than $150.00 to build tank and filter. I don't want to burn out a 25,000 tractor to save on some fuel cost.

What to you guys think? I have attached the link if anyone wants to check it out.

Here is a formula that I know for certain does work. It has been proven to not gel at -5 F therefore no preheat or separate tank required. If using waste oil, peanut is preferred but any will work ok. Filter through a 10 then 5 micron filter, mix thoroughly and enjoy. I'll even go out on a limb and give you a money back guarantee

55 GAL VEG OIL, 5 GAL KEROSENE. 2 1/2 GAL GAS, 6 OZ MINERAL SPIRITS, 2 OZ XOLENE, 2 OZ DENATURED ALCOHOL, 36 OZ DIESEL KLEAN CETANE BOOST AND READY TO GO.

This place has nice tanks - Plastic-Mart - but whatever you have on hand will do.

The problem is getting the waste oil. Most now sell it in my area and no longer give it away. I looked at buying oil in bulk, 300 gal at a time, and it was still $9 a gallon. My guess is you will do your research and figure out it will cost too much.

Also remember it will void your warranty if you still have one.

That is snake oil. The only true way to make real bio is to crack it, not mix it.

IF you have a WVO source, build one of these for $4-500.

Alright then......let me ask a question. I have read alot of articles about bio-diesel and looked at alot of setups. For those of you that make your own what do you do with the water after you wash the bio-dieasel?

Can you reuse this water? If not does it need to be reclaimed or is it safe to dump into the enviroment? I would really like to know for I run a diesel car and tractor.

The byproduct you are left with is glycerin. You can put it in 5 gallon buckets and dispose of it at the landfill.

That is really not an acceptable alternative. I live out in a rural area......no landfills around here. Can the water be filtered and used again????? A person I know of has a cooker and when he is done with a batch he dumps his water on his farm. I think that is irresponsible to do even if you own the property. Does anyone have a solution??? Or is this something that no one talks about.

There has to be a recycling center or something near slippery rock. I live in a rural area and there are places that will take it.

Any Amish up that way? They may take it to make soap with.

(Whitey) The water can be reused to a point, you can process the water and extract the methanol out of it and reuse that as well, this will extend the use of the water. This is based on what I have read and folks I have talked with who are doing it. I am not doing it yet... need to get a heater tank first. Disposing of the glycerine is a whole other issue. With the high injection pressures of the VW TDI and the PD injectors.... your BioD must be of a high quality with NO water left in it.
