I built this shovel from a galvanized plate that goes under mobile homes in the dirt to keep something in place, and a hitch. The receiver is some extra stuff I had laying around. The blade was flat, so I put three bends in it to form a shovel look. I use it for digging up plants, shrubbery, and could be used to form a trench. It is attached to the receiver which I adapted to the 3 pt hook up on my Power-Trac.

Looks good! That got me thinking if you added a hyraulic top link you could have real dig action. Might have to beef up the hitch.

Back again, and still wanting a strong spade.
I have a 30 inch piece of square "post" "tube" whatch call it?
Side walls are 3/16 inch thick.

Here is what I've come up with so far.
Looks a lot like JJ's.
Some of my doubts,
How hard will it be to bend after I cut one side out?

What's the best way to mount onto FEL?
I'm thinking weld to piece of channel and fab so I can remove tooth bar and bolt spade in place.

Would it be better to leave the two sides vertical?

Ok now I'll wait for some of you to comment.
Thanks for ALL who reply.
Here's a sketch of what I have in mind.

Gotrocks.

In my other post, I thought you were talking about a 30 in steel plate. My mistake.

I just realized that you are working with a 10 in box steel tube. That is not going to be easy to open that box up the way you think. I think I would cut and weld things back together. Someone built his scoop like you are thinking.
Second picture is a skidsteer plate you can use to add attachments.
