I don't buy a vehicle to look at it. I would rather have a truck which is butt ugly but does what I need, than have something with nice lines but spends all of it's time in the shop, or costs so darned much to maintain that I don't dare drive it.

A big car likely saved my life. I was t-boned in my 1995 Thunderbird's driver door. Almost any other passenger vehicle wouldn't have protected me as well.

First stick shift car I ever drove. I didn't own it (but I have owned 2 Volvos)...belonged to a friend of my older sister

Those old Volvos are well built. I also like the B 21 (Red block) engines long lived and a hp per cubic inch. That said I would certainly drive their new electric version of the XC 40
I mean it is electric but LOOKS like a "Normal" SUV.

This is my biggest gripe about people who buy bigger "so they'll be safer." Perhaps they should learn how to drive instead. I don't care what people drive, as long as they can do it well.

The same could be said about all the "safety" stuff they're putting in cars these days.

Too bad Volvo's are fugly.

I never thought Volvos were ugly, I rather like the bling-free styling. Then again, most modern cars are kind of ugly.

I remember seeing a Volvo sports car like that running around town when I was young. I thought the little fins on the tail were sweet!

Around 1978 our family was traveling down a snowy interstate in our Buick Electra, when some one going the other direction lost control, came across the median and hit the side of us. Spun us around like a top, and fortunately no one behind us to hit us. In a small car, we might have been killed. We drove the car home. That car became the car I drove in college. A big car saved us.
