Big Boy

The local highway is in the process of being widened. This equipment junkie is lovin' it. I spied this big boy as they were getting it ready to work but forgot the camera. I found it again a few days later and here it is. This is a Cat 385, 500hp and 90 tons of beauty. That's a 7-8 yard bucket I think. Enjoy.

This is the first time I've seen anything that big here as well. The only thing bigger in the Cat lineup is the 5000 series mining shovels...

I happened across it working last week. I was sitting in traffic block while the Volvos (in rear of machine) were whizzing fill across the highway. There were dirt "clods" the size of my riding lawn mower on the trucks. Those are 40 ton ADTs I think.

I was gonna say that it borders on being mining size. With all the street work they are doing in town, that thing would sure get the job done quick! I wonder who the lucky one is who gets to play with it all day? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
