Hi all: I own a Kubota B2620 with a BH65 backhoe. Awesome tool and use it a lot as I built my 1200sq ft hunting cabin on 10a of land.(i border on 10's of thousands of acres of crown land almost all never used) Pony wall foundations, garage pad, buried water lines, pulled stumps, trenched 800 yards' of electrical line, etc...

Now its time to install a septic field and I need to dig a hole for the tank deeper than the 6 1/2' the BH65 allows.

Is there any attachements or ways of extending the digging depth of the BH65 backhoe?

Dig out the area for the tank to a shallower depth and then come back in and dig down another six feet. The initial layer will be larger to cover an area to set the backhoe on for the final dig.

How deep? I'd use the front bucket and build a stockpile to get down an extra foot or so. More than that and you should just rent a mini ex.

thanks... appreciate the responses and I know about doing a 2 stage dig.

Let me re-phrase.... does anyone knows of attachements to extend digging depth of a BH65 backhoe.

Cheers
Bill

I guess you could build an extendahoe but for one job it wouldn't be worth it.

you could build a longer bucket - but it would only gain another foot or two... I somehow suspect this isnt what you wanted to hear. At this point just for one job, 2 stage might be your best economical option.

BH attachment no...

How about a tooth bar for FEL to help you dig that way?

Question: do you have the equipment/tools to make an extend-a-hoe? Might be a cool project but would most likely only be practical to another foot or two max

Short answer.....no. Even if you could extend it a couple feet your digging power would be greatly reduced, plus you would have more hoe than tractor. Best just rent the appropriate equipment. Better yet buy yourself a nice mini-hoe.
