BH Mulcher - a little clearing

I've got an area around the weekend place that I'm trying to clean up, a little at a time. Basically I run over the smaller stuff with the BH over and over to chew it up. Then get the bank blade and chop off the limbs up to a little higher than the top of the tractor rops so I can get close. I take those and toss them out in the middle and run over them to mulch them up. Eventually I can run the FM over them and use it from then on. First pic you can get an idea of the before image. then some general shots. most stuff in the 1" or little better or smaller size. I don't like to go much more than that if I don't have to. Most of it is soft wood and is green so it isn't to bad.

Nice. We had rain all weekend, which was welcome, but not conducive to getting out and working with the tractor.

I spent $200 on filters and Hy-Tran Ultra getting ready for the 300 hour service on my DX. It was interesting going to the dealers -- stock is way down in the Case and Kubota lines both. There were basically no Case CUTs on the lot, 2 or 3 big red machines, and maybe a dozen Kubota's of various smaller sizes. And it was hard to find a place to park for all the customers there.

That is basically what I do when clearing with the brushhog. I do burn a good portion of the removed branches though. I think it is a good thing to get rid of most of those lower ladder fuels(dry brush and dead branches). It at least gives you a chance that a fire will burn thru without killing all the trees...

My brain was stuck on BackHoe for BH and it just didn't make sense!

Well I guess if I meant backhoe, then yall would have thought I was talking about a bushhog.

I just can't get use to calling a bushhog a rotary cutter. I grew up around tractors, farms, etc but never heard that term until I joined TBN. But I don't think one can edit the name of a topic.

Yeah, I thought you had a bush hog hooked to your back hoe arm. Like what DOT uses along the roadways. Now, you owe us! You gotta get the back hoe...

Might be fun to have one, but I couldn't dream of the uses to pay for it. I know yall can yeah yeah yeah.

If I need one I can rent for about $250 for the weekend. Only need it once in 7 years since building the weekend place. That was for the septic.
