the bolt that holds mega-sized-pin that attached to the bottom of the cylinder thats responsible for lifting/lowering the whole backhoe (factory kioti) on my new dk45s (41 hours) exploded today. it was loud... the mega pin flew out the side and 1 side of the receiving female end is bent upwards. dont know if the pin will go into the hole, the hydraulic arm hole and throught the other side of female receiver because they dont line up anymore. just walked away in disgust because when it was delivered there were a total of 4 nuts/bolts missing. coupled with what ive seen here so far kind of depressing. didnt see this many things when doing research.

Hi and welcome to TBN.
It would help a lot if you could fill out your profile so we would have an idea of the equipment you have. You don't say which Kioti Backhoe you are using.
However, from your post it would appear that your dealer was very negligent when setting up and again when delivering your machine. The missing bolts and nuts should have been caught before the machine left his shop. These tractors are not delivered to the dealers assembled. They come in crates and the dealer does the finish assembly. At that point all bolts should have been check. Again, on delivery, they should have taken the time to go over every aspect of the machine and answer any questions you might have. At least, thats my dealer procedure and I know of many fine Kioti dealers here on TBN that follow those same procedures and have very happy customers who tell us so all the time. Again, don't hold that against the machine. Go right back to the dealer and get this straighten out right away.

Bolts are supposed to be "graded" and have little marks on the the head of the bolt. If I was you, I would contact Kioti and find out what 'grade' of bolt is supposed to be used to hold that pin in place. Make sure you do not replace the broken bolt with one of a lesser grade or you will be asking for real problems.

Also you may want to find out if that bolt was supplied by the factory or the dealer and make sure it is up to specs. There were some problems a while back with 'counterfeit' bolts that were sold as higher grade than they really were (this was NOT a Kioti issue, it was in import issue and affected many industries). Make sure you use the proper bolt, and you should get that bolt and pin replaced under warrenty.

Under what conditions were you working that caused the bolt to 'explode?'

i was just diggin dirt from my pond. ill post pics tomorrow. i live in northern va and bought from southern va. i will definately get a grade 8 bolt if 1, i can extend the cylinder back into place because the arm aint moving. even though its cheaper 32k than other machines, darn, 32k is a lot to have your machine down to just a bolt and not engine trouble for which i am thankful. but... only 41 hours... if the receiver assembly on the factory installed kioti brand bh needs replacing, due to other threads ive seen, dont want to wait 6 months. not a simple looking part to replace.

From you description, it sounds like your bolt was comming out, then got pinched, not that the bolt failed. When you found the missing bolts, did you re-check all the others for tightness? You dealer should come out to you and fix all of this, since they should have done it right prior to delivery....sounds like they left you hanging:mad:

Along the lines of what Motor7 said, that "mega pin" is it like a clevis pin that holds all the force from the hydraulic cylinder? And the bolt that exploded, is that one just there as a retainer bolt, to keep the "mega pin" in position...in the receiving end? If so, I can't figure out what force would be imposed on the "exploded" bolt to have it do that? Like Motor 7 implies, maybe that bolt came loose, fell out and the "mega pin" worked it's way out of position until it "popped" out under stress when no longer held by the receiving end?

In any case, that is certainly an issue to take up with your dealer who should repair it.

actually i fixed it. this is my first tractor ever so i kind of panicked. i just lubed up the pin, maneuvered the ram to push down while engine running. lifted the end of the ram into place and persuaded it back in. then beat the sh** out of the receiving (heavy metal part) end to line back up and it looks good as new. im a whiner, i know. glad its fixed though, thanks for the help
