Beware of Catalytic Converter Thefts

Maybe, but not likely in a parking lot. Perps don't roll around floor jacks as a rule.

There are dozens of stories out there about converter thieves getting crushed when their jacks fail. Lots of videos and pictures, too.

Around here, it takes them less than 2 minutes to lift a car with the jack, cut the Cat out and get out of there. Trust me, doesn't matter how low the car is. They'll get it regardless.

I see no real problem with that personally, the old adage, " don't do the crime unless you can do the time" comes to mind
I had watched a video awhile back, think it was in the UK. Guy came out and noticed a trolley jack under his car with a pair of legs sticking out and the sound of a grinder coming from under his car. Apparently the thief never heard or saw the owner who proceeded to lower the jack, all you could see were the legs flopping around as the guy was pinned under the car, where he stayed 'till the cops came.

Would certainly get crushed under my Focus and if I saw it, I'd probably help them out by lowering the jack. Nothing like a face full of car underbody.
