Some fine Sony DVD players are made in China.

I used to buy Sony products no questions asked...not anymore after having a $1,000 camera constantly turn itself off while taking a picture in low light conditions, and the known to Sony problem started after the warranty expired. My wife's Sony DVD/VCR player's DVD quit working after only playing a few disks, yet the VCR still works. Check the Internet for that problem and particular Sony model, and it is a known and widespread problem. Sony used to make good telephones, then they went to making junk, and now they don't make phones anymore.

If Sony wants to sell inferior crap, fine and dandy; just don't charge the Sony premium as the name Sony is no longer a guarantee of quality and innovative consumer electronics.

Caveat Emptor and b***h loud and clear to the manufacturer when their Chinese made junk fails prematurely.

Bad news for Asian quality this week.

Consumer Reports is saying that Toyota no longer is on the top 5 auto manufacturers for quality. Ford, on the other hand, is saying that it will take the top position for quality within the next few years.

I JUST talked my father into buying a brand new 2007 Toyota Avalon, because my 1996 Avalon has 220k miles on it and almost no problems at all over the yars. Dad's going to me unhappy with his son!
