My old boots are getting tired & were never very comfy. They are Timberlands, previous pair were Wolverines. What brands have y'all had good luck with? Santa is alway looking for practical gifts... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Redwing for work boots but my 20 year old Scarpa hicking boots are doing well too.

i find that timberland boots fit me fine, seems like none of the manufactures can make boots or shoes for that matter that are sized quite the same. really depends on the shape of your feet, a size in one boot may fit u better than the same size in another boot, make any sense?

Redwing Irish Setter boots - best boots I have ever had.

I have to wear Redwings at work. They're a classic lineman type boot, 10", steel toe and shank, tall heel for gaffing and ladder work, unlined. They're pretty comfortable after they get done beating your feet into submission in about 2 months!

My personal favorite are the Rocky boots. My "house work" boots are leather/cordura, goretex lined, thinsulated. These are more comfy than a pair of tennis shoes. The only bad thing about these or any work boots, is that soft dirt packs in the sole. When these wear out, it'll be another pair of Rockys.

Walker boots are good. They are light and comfortable and are available in plain or steel toe. They were made in the USA, but I don't know if they still are, I hope so.

I bought a pair of Danners (8" rainforest I think) with gortex lining and they're the best boot I've ever bought. They are spendy, but I bought a second pair in the shorter 5" height for the warmer days. The factory is located in Portland Oregon and I've got friends that stop by once in awhile to buy factory seconds if they have any that fit. The seconds are marked way down and my understanding is that they only sell ones with appearance issues. They won't sell a boot with bad stitching or other defects that will affect the life of the boot. They even have a website to purchase boots online.

Do they have a site to purchase seconds on line ? If so can you post it ? Here the same is true for Timberland at the factory outlet malls. I find the most comfortable work one the wolverine. Dave

if you want comfort in a work boot, look at the mephisto boots, or their hunting boots for outdoor winter work. ecco makes a great boot too, i have never had any trouble with them.

both of these companies make boots that are ment to fit the foot, not make your foot fit the boot. best part is both are r-soleble. so take care of them and they will last forever.
