Best Welding accessory I ever bought

/ Best Welding accessory I ever bought #21
Funny thing, while you guys are teaching your sons which is very good, I taught my Dad a little about welding. He had always taken his broken or dull equipment to a welding shop to fix or sharpen. I learned a little about welding in High School and was pretty good at it. I got a job welding when I was on summer break from college and learned a lot more. So Dad and I started farming together later and I convinced Dad that it would be worth while to get a welding machine, cutting torch and grinder to do our own work. We bought a new Lincoln AC tombstone, a Victor torch and bottles and a 7" grinder and we were in business. No more trips to the shop to fix or sharpen our farm equipment. Later we built 2 cotton hauling trailers 40 feet in length x 8 feet wide. Bought the axle stubs, tires and rims and everything else we built from steel plate, angle and channel. That was over 40 years ago and I still remember it like yesterday. Dad and I didnt do a lot of things together other than drive tractors and farm so it was nice to work hand and hand on a project.
I know lots of the younger generation is too busy with working to take time with the kids but there is no better way to know your children than working a task with them. Memories like that stay with you and your kids. I am still amazed at some of the things my kids remember that we did that to me at the time were not major just everyday but they stuck with them. Simple things that we did together as a family seem to be the fondest memories for them.
