I'm planning on putting up a pole shed in a month or 2. I have some furniture that I need to store in it and was wondering the best way to keep mice from getting into the furniture? I was thinking of maybe getting some pallet racking or building some steel shelving to get it up higher where mice can't climb or having a separate closed off room that had no cracks for mice to get in. I figured somebody on here must have had a similar storage requirement?

mice can climb , squeeze in thru a hole the size of a dime ...gnaw thru wire mesh ....

socks filled with cloves , tucked into the furniture and drawers will slow them down ..... but it is a hopeless cause.

Not hopeless. Buy some "car bags" used to store hot rods for the winter. ---carbag.com--These come in pretty big sizes and come with a desiccant package. Put furniture in, zip shut and it works. Now, I've never done furniture like this but I've done a number of cars with zero problems and they are full of upholstery. Just a thought.

Yep x2. Spreading bait around will keep'em down too... but you have to remember to replace the bait eventually.

Do what I did: Subcontract it out to professionals.

I like the subcontractors. Mothballs tend to slow them down too.

I've tried it all but the only thing that worked was cats.

Keep the doors shut on the shed, set up plenty of traps. The poison I have used they just seem to move it around but never eat it.
I tried a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 full of water with a ramp for the mice. Then throw a handful of sunflower seeds in the water and on the ramp. The dumber mice will jump right in and can't get out. Do this they will be depleted in numbers fairly quickly.

We have had good results with cinnamon sticks in the horse trailer living quarters and equipment cabs.
