Security & Theft Best way to protect Tractor from Theft?

I know old thread come to life.. I'm not answering the OPs question. I personally just do 1,2 & 5

1. locked in a barn of any kind
2. Inurance get a little more than what you think your tractor is worth not that big a cost
3. Put a tresspassing sign on the barn and in the area - in Ohio at least you can prosecute someone sneaking around your property that is posted
4. Tracker if the first 3 don't help you sleep at night
5. A good relationship with your neighbor; we all watch out for one another, strange cars etc.
6. Dog
7. Video surveylance

My security consists of key removal, PTO active. Tractor sits in full view of the street and my neighbors.

Oh did I mention one neighbor is the former chief of police and his MIL (another neighbor) sees everything. Oh and then there's the LEO neighbor's dog who thinks our yard is in her protective range and she scares the crap out of people. Lastly there's insurance (KTAC).

Try finditnowgps or Google fin gps systems. I have it on our polaris ranger that sits in the barn. If you bump into it or it moves, that triggers txt msg and emails which trigger an alarm on my phone within a minute or two. From that point I can track it on a map. It's hidden and has a backup battery. Definitely not a theft deterrent, but I feel sorry for the fools that try to steal it one day. Hopefully the police will catch them before I do. It's a piece of mind that's well worth the $80 per year. It's only a matter of time before some meth head tries. I don't live at the farm, so it might be a week or two before I get down there and I never have to worry about it being gone when I pull up.

A slightly mis-adjusted safety switch on a lever (gear shiftier, pto or such) can be tough to pickup on but easy to prevent starter working.

I've tried leaving the PTO on. That turned out to be nearly useless because that dash light up to disengage the PTO. Leaving my previous gear tractor in gear was equally as worthless and resulted in a similar warning. The seat safety is the best one use. The other safeties will prevent the key from starting it, but if you jumped across the starter with a screw driver, the tractor would start and run,

I happened upon this idea by accident replacing a dead battery last week. Pull ground cable and slip thin plastic sleeve over the post and slide ground back on just snug. Hard to notice but of course if they ran jumper cable to frame ground would by pass so would running jumper cable to starter if positive was done same way.

Oh I missed the think plastic sleeve on ground post replacing a battery is how I thought of this....dummy.
