Backhoe Best way to get grease in a stuck fitting.

With that boss being so dry i would use a flap drum sander on it to make sure the grease has some room to get out both sides of the pin.

Recently I purchased a tool that you fill with grease then place over the fitting and hit with a hammer. Haven稚 got a chance to try it yet...

The angled style don't hold up well to that treatment.

Now a "smoke hammer" (O/A torch) That works frequently. just don't spoil the fine wire spring that pushes on the ball. BTDT! leaves a hole... ;-)

I find they work better if you fill them with WD40 or a penetrating oil. If it's not the grease zerk itself, it's often that the grease itself has dried out and hardened up. WD40 can loosen it up.

The best I've found for freeing stuck parts is Blue Creeper, but all we are doing here is loosening up dried up grease. WD-40 works fine for that and is easy to get. I'm sure Kroil would work as well or better. Kerosene or diesel would also work.

Often a fitting won't take grease cuz it has been neglected so old grease and dirt build up between the fitting and pin. You can 1) remove the fitting and dig/drill the crap out. 2) burn it out. 3) I bought a tool that consists of a piston and cylinder. I put diesel fuel into it, place it on the fitting and strike it several times with a hammer. It usually clears it out. Look up Lincoln Impact Fitting Cleaner.
