Best way to clear unwanted trees from pasture

I foamed the front tires on my backhoe to deal with the locust thorns. Had to do the same on my small tractor for mowing too.

i run solids on my SS but for a tractor i dont think there is a good alternative - i would hate that kind of a ride on my tractor tires, i would get locust and hedge thorns in my SS and they have much harder tires than tractor tires - a track SS is probably easiest to deal with but not sure i can afford the upkeep for it nor throwing off tracks in pastures with stobs in it

Update.

I bought 50 acres, about 35 pasture and 15 woods. The pasture is overrun with wild Bradford pears; probably over 1000. I bought a Kubota M7060HD12. I have done done a lot of bush hogging and now am starting to work on the trees. I decided to go with Dougherty Forestry Manufacturing's Turbo Saw. The saw mounts on the Tractor's 3 point hitch. I have a grapple on the front of the tractor. I took the saw out to the property for the first time today. I cut the tree and ground level, then my wife paints the stump with Garlon 3A herbicide, then I stack the trees in a burn pile with the grapple. We cut 50 trees today, ranging from about 2" to 12". We have a long way to go, but I'm really happy with the Turbo Saw.

In the foreground of your video there is a plant with purple flowers. Is it Musk thistle? We can start new thread on the control of musk thistle. The trees collect a large number of seeds. Once the trees are gone, many new plants will grow. Mowing, spraying, and seeding will control undersirable plants.

I'm not sure what it is. Yes, after I bush hog the blackberries, thistles, etc., and cut down the trees, I will need to spray the field, test the soil, lime and fertile as necessary, seed, and keep it cut. There are many pastures around mine that are beautiful, so I know that mine will be too with time.

Looks like you found a good solution for clearing your land. Take lots of pictures, you'll be surprised how quickly it changes and how hard it is to remember what you started out with.

Thanks Eddie! The goal is to clear enough property to make a good land plan. We will then focus on clearing land for a house, barn, and equipment building/workshop. After building gets started, we can focus on clearing the rest of the property. We already have about six acres of pasture cleared for the horses.

Will those stumps rot out fast? Or are you still going to grind the stumps?
