You gotta understand, we keep a 2-1/2 year old granddaughter two or three days a week. She eats like an adult. Her favorite thing is ham! And while she spoons or forks food into her mouth she cannot bite apart pieces of ham, beef, or chicken. So I bought a $0.99 pair of kitchen shears at HF to use to cut up the meat. This is much easier than trying to use a knife. We are now up to four pairs in the kitchen so we always have a clean one. Wife uses them in her sewing, craft work. I am always getting a pair from the kitchen to cut up something. They can be used to cut open the plastic packaging on products. They can be used to open Amazon boxes. They are plastic with metal blades attached. Very cheap looking but they do the job and we haven't broke a pair yet.
What we originally bought to cut up a baby's food is now one of the most used tools in the kitchen. And just throw them in the dishwasher when dirty.
As for the two year old. Still eating everything on her plate and still weighing in on the lower thirty pounds. Guess she runs it off.
