Tractor
Kubota BX 2370
I have just purchased a BX2370 (Jan 2014) with 50" Snow Blower, 60" MMM, and FEL. The Tractor came with Turf tires, which work amazingly well for blowing snow, even up-hill on an icy base. In the summer, I have used my John Deere 190 c lawn mower (tractor) as a "Bush hog" on the back lot . Anything under 1" diameter, I considered grass. Consequently, there is a lot of sharp stubble that I think would be a puncture hazard for the heavy BX.
Would the Kubota Industrial tires have better puncture resistance than the 'Bar' tires. Also, would the Industrial tires have less traction, I plan to create a path way on the slope of my property with the FEL, to skid logs up hill.
Thanks again for any help

On the ice and hard packed driveway the turfs will give you the best traction. As far as the stubble the best tires for you would be the industrial tires. Tires and rims are not expensive if ordered through Kubota whole goods.

Thanks, art. It looks like the industrial tires have more 'lugs', (thicker tread). I was concerned about them having enough traction on a grade, pulling a trailer or dragging logs. Maybe log skidding is expecting too much from the BX ?
snpower; attached, see pics of my new toy. I'll jump at any chance to show it off. It's an expensive solution to my snow problem, but it is a beautiful machine and a great performer so far. I look forward to the snow.

A BX will skid logs just as well as any other tractor for its size. Your turfs will actually provide surprisingly good traction on dry ground, even on significant slopes. Bar tires are better in mud and loose soil.

The BX pulls logs just fine. The size of the log just needs to be relative. It helps to add weight to your tractor too.

Well -- I dont like to drive over wood stubbles with ANY type of tires. However if you used a garden tractor to mow down the woody saplings,My guess is you try your best to keep the blades sharp like you are mowing grass and that is a bad thing. When mowing woody stuff, its best you use a very dull or blunted edge blades, this way the stubbles becomes shredded instead of cutted. Shredded stubbles makes it less likely to punture tires. If you plan to skid logs on same path, I'd be out there with hand loppers and start cutting stubbles below the ground where the tires will be driving over. Its true what they say - An ounce of prevention goes a long way.
