What is the best style- the one that has the popular flat bottom tines or the one that looks like half an oval? The half oval looks like it would grab tighter and hold the smaller tree's ( 2-3" in diameter).
I want to push up small ( < 3") pine trees in sandy soil and tightly hold smaller branches and trunks. The flat bottom tines would be easier to carry slabs of concrete but I do not plan to use it for that. I tried to rent the flat tined grapple this weekend but hydro lines were designed for a skid steer.

Thanks

How will a grapple push the trees up for you? Grapples are for grabbing hold of loose stuff.

I have the pirhana root grapple with flat bottom. The front of the tines are tipped slightly up. It is what they recommended for handling logs and brush. I have used it a lot, and am able to pinch pieces in the tips of the tines and carry them around as needed.

the half oval shaped ones are built mor for clearing, We use them on track and wheel loaders. THe flat ones are more for rehandling downed logs and sifting and toting loose debris.
