I had an opportunity a while ago to pick up a GB60 box blade and it was suggested to me that it was too big based on how much material the box itself would hold. Was told I'd likely be spinning my tires once the box filled which made sense.

I am still in need of a box blade and 48" seems to be the proper width. If I want to move dirty mostly with it what weight box blade should I be looking at? From the research I've done the weight varies by as much as 100lbs.

I am not going to be grading a driveway. Just re-grading a lawn that has far too many whoop-de-doos.

I've been using a Woods 48" box blade on my B2620 which has basically the same engine you do. The mounting points on my standard duty box are a bit high, and I'm not sure you would get the lift you want / need though you might. I wouldn't buy anything larger than that for the BX.

My KingKutter XB boxblade works pretty well. I have used it on a tractor similar to yours and it was the perfect match.

I use an Armstrong Ag 48" box blade with my 2660. Seems to work well for the tractor size. Will move the dirt even when full although she'll spin tires if it hits a heavy root or rock.

Yep, generic 48" box blade, KK XB something like that.

FWIW, I've often felt that my generic TSC-purchased "Farm Force" box blade seems too light. I'm not sure who really makes these box blades, so I'm unable to find the specs to share the weight here. I'm going to guess it's not much more than 200 pounds, since I can lift one side of it, and I am not the strongest guy around. So, should you happen to know the weight of my box blade, I'd go with something heavier.

My Woods Estate Series 48" is a perfect match to my Massey GC. One of the heavier of the 4' sub compact models.

Here's what I've used on a B7800 and BX2660 and my nephew has used it on his BX2360. Yes, it's been outside for 5 years. I guess it's 48".

I use a KK XB 48 behind my BX2660. As stated earlier, if you hook a large root, the front end will come off the ground. I made a weight rack on it, but never was in hard enough ground to need to add weight. I use it on the trails in the woods. I also remove the teeth and use it as rear weight and a scraper blade in winter. It works awesome for this. It is slightly narrower than the snowblower, so it cleans up any packed snow and carries it instead of just spilling off the sides.

The amount of resistance offered by the soil varies based on soil type, the moisture content, the degree of compaction, embedded rocks, and roots. If you were moving sandy loam that had already been ripped, I imagine that 60" unit would do fine. The type turf you have, its root structure, how well those roots are interwoven into the soil and subsoil, etc. could make some difference.

I have a Gannon 42" box blade that is much more heavy duty than other small box blades like Agri-Fab. In fact, it is an industrial/commercial grade model-the only one of such narrow width that I have ever seen. I bought it used from an after market implements only dealer. It has adjustable/removable rippers and in addition to the drag blade, it has a rear facing push blade. In my dense clay, it works only if the soil has been pre-ripped since the most recent rainy season, or if the clay has just the right amount of moisture content. Otherwise the resistance is too great and it just bogs down instantly. Gannon was bought by Woods a number of years ago and the Gannon division now only makes buckets. The smallest box blades made by Woods is now 48"; they have three models of various weights in that width.
