Best Seed Mix for New FIeld?

Whats the difference in pasture mix and regualar grass seed? I'm looking at 2 acres to seed but want a yard look. thanks, bw

Pasture mix is completely different in most cases. The same grasses that make a great looking lawn don't always make a great pasture because of hardiness. I sure wouldn't want orchard grass in my lawn. This grass is clumpy and isn't very fun to play baseball and football on or roll over doing somersaults, /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. You also wouldnt' want brohm in your lawn. The brohm will grow faster and you will have your KBG at 4" and your brohm will be at 6 or 7".

A related further newbie question:

Is it ok to throw some wildflower seed into the pasture mix? Are there certain flowers that should not be used if the fields are to hold animals?

I wouldn't do it. There are certain flowers that are dangerous to horses.
