best practices for DPF/regen?

Hi, newish XG3140H owner here. This is my first time operating a machine with DPF so I am a little unfamiliar with the expected behavior of this subsystem. Can somebody summarize best operator practices around regeneration?

The question's not entirely theoretical, during hard use recently I got a flashing amber warning light and s81 F00 diagnostic code which appears to represent a "DPF overload fault". I stopped the engine and the fault hasn't recurred in 2-3 hours of subsequent operation, but I am wondering if it means I should proactively force a regen cycle.

Anyway, as a newb I'd love to hear other owners' concise guidance on what I should / shouldn't be doing generally to keep on good terms with a DPF-equipped engine.

There are a handful of threads on this topic. At the top, right side of the forum page, there is a tab called "Search Forum" Type in 'regen' and you will see them. There are different opinions, but I've found it best to run at least 2000 rpms for any activity, and keep your fuel, fuel filter, and air filter clean, and you shouldn't have any problems. When you say "hard use" what does that mean?

i was told always run 2k rpm or more, and short runs (eng never gets hot) are bad - and when regen happens just keep working. DO NOT shut it down in the midst of a regen.

My kioti CK3510 regens on avg 35 hours..haven't had it in the winter..I'll have issues with running it long and hot then.... regen takes 10-15 minutes. stinks, louder than normal operation,but otherwise no issues.

Low rpm, cold use cause more particulates to enter the filter, so more regen needed (frequency). Not sure how this affects overall performance or DPF filter life. I was told they last about 3000 hours...MANY MANY years.
