Best Place to Buy Parts

I just bought a MF 240 tractor in nice shape but it is going to need some replacement parts to make sure it is reliable and well maintained. Things like a new fuel tank, water pump, hoses, filters, fuel tank cap, etc. Where is the best place to get well made preferably made in USA parts? Or is this even possible? On line is OK (actually preferred as long as shipped in reasonable) and I would rank quality ahead of price and speed of shipping.

Filters your options are most likely going to be baldwin, fleetguard, purlator, luber finder, hastings and some fram. I believe Wix and napa also. For the rest of the parts idk.

You may be able to find a decent used fuel tank, and oem cap in a salvage yard. With todays technology they should be able to take pictures of any part, and send them to you. I believe all yards have a money back guarantee. Most have reasonable rates on shipping too. I've found the easiest way to find parts, is to use the OEM part number, and doing a search on a decent search engine such as Google. As far as hydraulic hoses, not sure where you're located, but I'd imagine there is a local hydraulic shop that makes custom made hoses to order. Remove the old hose, clean it up if needed, and take it to the shop for a fit for length, and fittings.

Thanks everyone. I like the salvage yard idea. See one of them has a ROPS which I would like to have, will see if they still have it. As long as it is not overly rusty, should still be good.

I am near Raleigh, there are a couple hydraulic shops nearly. NAPA/WIX always used to have good filters. A lot them are made in NC.

On salvage yards I had the small shaft that coupled the back of the trans to the rear axle break on my ford 851, a prety common tractor. No one made it, I could hardly even find the part number. Russell's tractor parts knew what part I was talking about and didnt need the part number. We IDed it by the shaft length and spline count.
