pull harder... we have seen some where the outside covereing of the cable comes loose and allows the cable to pull down some. Usually you can just pull harder and it will open up. If it is broke inside you won't hurt it any worse by pulling on it hard as you can.....

Not sure if I inderstand. I don't see how I can pull any harder. The pin is in the down position and has already been pulled. Its not stuck up. If I pull anymore, I think the pin might just come out. I guess I can try itthough.

the plug deal looks like it has been pulled? is about 2-3" of a rod sticking down? Just give it a tug more.... i bet she'll open up... can you post a pic by chance?

I will try to post a pick this weekend if I get a chance. I will first try to pull it down even more, but it is in the same position where it used to work.

If you simply push down on the hood as you pull the knob, the hood should open just fine.

Well all, tried all of the suggestions and techniques and none worked. Finally, I yanked the pin to until it felt it was about to break and that did it, it opened up. I cleaned the filters and checked some fluid levels and closed it back up. Did not try to open again so hopefully I will be ok next time. I appreciate all the help.

If the hood is hard to open put some grease on the latch that is mouting to the hood. It will do wonders. Also check your cable to see if the outside covering has come loose from the crimped on ends and is allowing more travel that should be. I can take a picture if needed of one that we have need fail.
