First, I think first I should request some info from you. Why don't you fill out your bio and tell us why you want a China brand tractor, what you intend to use it for? (as per your "a lot of digging" statement). Also let us know your mechanical abilities?
The reason I ask for this info is a China tractor may not be for everyone. They are fine workhorses, don't get me wrong but need an occasional "tweak" now and then. I own a Jinma and feel very comfortable with mine but I am a mechanic.
So we would need this info from you so we could give our best recommendations to you.

on the 35 and up HP i say the Kama hands down. Fit and finish is better on the 45HP and up Kama and it is just a nicer tractor for the money.
now i have not seen the new Jinma 45and up HP but if the fit and finish is the same on them as the 284 then i can say go Kama.

the reason I want a chinese tractor is that I am not made of money. I plan on doing alot of work at my (retirement vacation) house in upstate N.Y. (w. burlington , otsego co.). Some experience on tractors when I was younger but havent been on a tractor in years. Luckily I am handy at anything I set my mind to. Therefore I dont forsee problems dealing with maintenance on these tractors. thanks. helpme

Most of us are getting the Foreign Brand Tractors, Especially the Chinese Tractors, for the same reason.
I chose Chinese, because I couldn't spend the extra money's for a Well Know Brand, such as JD, MF, NH, and now even Kabota has got a dollar amount attached to their name. And I thought buying used was just as much of a gamble, versus buying New Chinese.
Buying Chinese is a littlebit like being a pioneer and a gambler. To break away from the herd,, you've got to take advantage of your past knowledge and build upon it, and take what the Competition says with a grain of salt.
I don't think that the Chinese tractors are as good as the JD, MF, Kabota and some others, but the Chinese Tractors are at about 1/2 the price or even less, if you shop hard.
My first Chinese Tractor was a Shinniu. I got it in 1990 for 5K and sold it in 1997 for 4K. i bought my 2nd Chinese TRactor in 2003 and so far so good.
Just Remember, when you get Chinese,, you arn't running with the Herd anymore and it gets pretty breazy sometimes, when you are out pioneering on your own.
These forums are great though and you can get a wealth of knowledge about previous breakdowns and errors that others have made, that you can take advantage of. So I suggest you read as many of the posts here on this forum and also at the NYCTO forum, and anyother tractor forum that you can get your hands on.
Although Parts does not seem to be a problem with the Jinma's, there are so many of these tractor here now,, that there is at least one place that stocks OEM filters and either has or can get the OEM parts that you need.
But the biggest problem, that I have came across is, Getting Geniune Technical Support. Too many saying one thing and Too many saying something else. The issue now that is up for Debate: What is the correct VAlve Lash on a Y380T Engine, Some say one thing and others say something else, and No one seems to be able to get technical support from Either Jinma or YangDong(Engine Manufacturer).
Which ever Tractor that you get,, make sure since you are saving money anyway, to get all of the Creature Comforts that you desire, such as PS, 4Wd, Spring Suspension Seat for Body weight, Canopy. And if you live where it is freezing cold most of the time,, consider getting a cab with a heater, and anyother feature that you can think of from the getgo, so you get the tractor setup just the way that you want it.

Well Helpme, I think you are a perfect canidate for a China tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just like the rest of us.
We just have to fit the right size unit to fit your needs. You said a lot of digging. Anything else like mowing large areas, or anything that may require special features like steep hill work? Tight areas where size is a factor?

HI Harry, there will be a little finish mowing but for the most part the field work will consist of brushoging. some planting, erecting fences, rototilling for gardens, and ofcourse grading my 1300 foot driveway. As for the lay of the land, its mostly flat with one pretty steep area, about 3 acres, the attachments I will need is fel, phd, brushog, and backhoe. But I anticepate buying more because I like to play. thanks helpme

Well, if you have 16 acres and want to do what you say I would think a 35 HP would be a minimum. You can always go for more HP. I have a lot of good things about Kama. I believe there is a guy on this board with a Kama from Orange county NY that maybe could show you his and you could get a feel of the machine.
I have a 224 Jinma and would gladly show you mine but I think mine is too small for what you need.
Yes, the more I think about your needs( some steep hills, long driveway, etc) I think 45 HP Kama would best suit your needs.
Maybe others could add to my suggestions.
