Bentonite Grease

My Homelite (Jacobsen) riding tractor seems to call for Bentonite grease in the transmission, but here in Ontario, Canada I cannot find it anywhere. I've read that it does not combine well with other greases but I've called Napa, and all the lawn and garden places around here and nobody sells it or has even heard of it. I was wondering if anyone knows what modern grease I can mix with it or if it is called something else here? It's for a Tecumseh Peerless 5 speed transmission. Thanks

Bentonite is clay based ish. I assume that you have this apart and have issues? If not, leave it. If you do, then clean clean clean ever thing up and use a better lube. It is time consuming.

Yeah I had to take it apart, I honestly don’t want to clean it out, it’s a huge job and I’d have to take the whole thing apart. I do appreciate that as a viable option though.

I'd have no idea really. Somewhere I probably have a dried up jug of the Tecumseh stuff. It is thicker than a 00 grease if I recall. When it gets pushed around and water infiltration, it doesn't look very good does it? I've found with pricing old Peerless in Deere's this summer that the people that have them are really proud of them. And yet people initially are a bit shocked when I tell them to figure 5 hours labor possible + to RnR and clean one of these up to fix / change the lube.

I have seen Bentonite used to fill in the out side of a basement, dig a hole
by the crack in the basement wall then fill the hole with Bentonite as when the Bentonite gets wet it swells up and seals the crack so no water can get in the basement

Knowling the above I would never use anything with Bentonite in an engine of any kind

It may have been part of the idiotic enviro-commie ban that took affect Jan 1,2024.

Things were banned that should not of been.

How close are you to the US border?

Or clean it out and use a good Poly urea grease.
