I hit a fence post lying in the grass. (I think it wasn't flat, and one end was caught by the blade. Anyway, I managed to bend the output shaft from the gearbox to the blade. If I spin the blade by hand, the two blades are about 3/4 of an inch different in height.

This produces a certain amount of vibration in use. My local JD dealer said it would be $2700 to fix. Since a new one is $3400, I bought a new one, and paid to have them reassemble the old one.

I figure that the old one is still good enough to rough out trails in the bush.

1. Is using the old one likely to damage the PTO on the tractor?

2. Is there any reasonable way to straighten the shaft without weakening it?

Is it possible the blade bar is bent and not the shaft ?
