New Holland 1925
Unbelievably, NH doesn't offer the polished rod in the steering cylinder by itself. You have to buy the entire steering cylinder for a smooth $400. I can't believe there's not an alternative (e.g. straighten the polished rod?). Anyone had any experience with this? Anyone know a cheap place to order the assembly?

Thanks

A hydraulic/machine shop can repair it. They'll replace the rod/seals and weld your old connector to the new shaft.

You'll have to make a few phone calls but you should be able to find a hydraulics shop that can give you options on fixing it. I had no luck finding anyone in the phone book when I needed a pump seal. I would try checking with places that deal with large trucks but are not a new truck dealer (that's how I found my local shop). Once I found them I found out they can order replacements, repair the bent rod itself, or if not bent too bad they could straighten it. If I remember correctly it was about half the price of new to replace the bent rod and seals.

Excellent advice. Thanks. There are several shops in my area that might be able to do this.
