Being safe

For home defense, anything past a double action only, .38 revolver with hollow points, is over kill. They can sit for years, with no attention, and anyone can very quickly figure out to use them. The political schism is if any one needs a military weapon. I use to think they didn't, till the pandemic, and Jan 6th. So some military weapons got pulled out during the pandemic, and some got pulled out after Jan 6th, but they have all now, been put away in deep storage again. Back down to that one gun, a simple double action revolver, that can last in the drawer forever, till called upon.
No one, and I mean, no one, ever needed anything more, to fend off a home invasion by one or two crazy persons with a knife.
They were invited in, as any good Canadian Native of the Cree would do.
Freedom of personal choice is just one of the rights that makes America great.

Most of the years when I was young it was common knowledge that is someone invaded your home - you had a responsibility to exit your home any safe way possible and no legal right to confront the intruder.

Then we all saw what happened during the aftermath of Katrina. Firearms were seized and many individual rights were trampled.
Because of this, many states, included our state, passed Emergency Powers laws and The Castle Doctrine. When events and situations require better laws, your law makers should research and make changes. It is the function of government to protect it's citizens.
Legal changes

No firearms - that's a shame. Hand grenades can be SO messy.......

Forty plus years out here. Only once - a belligerent couple of fellows. They saw the light when I racked a shell into my 12 gauge. I reported this incident to the County Sheriff. Physical description and license plate number. Seems they had visited others around here also.

I wonder if Trudi has armed security "Using guns to protect himself?" Let them eat cake!

"Honey, I'm going to buy a Judge to hunt groundhogs, I'll be right back!" The "Judge" perfect home defense, er, I mean hunting gun, Buckshot, .45, .45., .45, .45.... you get the picture!"

I have an Outdoor Edge Utility knife about 3.5" blade with a belt clip that stays in my pocket 99% of the time. The belt clip keeps it at the top of my pocket so I'm not digging for it, quick access. I use it ALL the time for utilitarian purposes around the home/farm. If I use it and screw up the blade I pop a new blade in and it is pretty sharp. 80% of the time I accompany that knife with a NAA Black widow, .22 mag. oh, and so does my wife, she actually has her .22 mag 95% of the time, even when mowing, yard work etc.

I didn't used to be as adamant about carrying but I am now. When the grandkids visit, I carry 100% of the time.

Strait from the horses mouth. "You can't use a gun for self defense in canada. That's not a right that you have."

Which is a fundamental difference between canada and the USA. Canada's constitution grants citizen's rights, where USA's constitution prohibits the government from infringing on rights that all humans are born with.
But they do...

Off course Castro jr. don't want you to defend yourself, just as his father wouldn't want any common worker would want the power to defend themselves against the elite of the hammer and sickle.
